Mayo parents call for early decision by school authorities

A NUMBER of parents have been in contact with The Connaught Telegraph calling on all school authorities in the county to make an early decision on school opening tomorrow when Storm Ophelia is due to sweep over the county.

They said if there is no school, they need to make alternative arrangements for childcare or arrange with their employer to take time off.

“We encourage school principals to make decisions as soon as possible and let parents know one way or the other. It would be really appreciated,” one parent told us.

It is this newspaper's understanding that a number of schools have already decided to close tomorrow and parents are being contacted.
