Restricted access in McHale Park stand due to storm damage
MAYO and Galway supporters who are hoping to attend the Connaught FBD league encounter between the counties in Elverys MacHale Park, Castlebar, next Sunday (throw-in 2 p.m.) are advised that there will be restricted access to the main stand.
Following last Tuesday's storm one of the big lights at the John Hanley end of the stand came down and will need repairing. This repair work will not be finished before Sunday's clash between Mayo and Galway.
Speaking to The Connaught Telegraph, Mayo County Board chairman Mike Connolly confirmed that damage was done to one of the big lights and will need to be repaired and that a small section of the stand will be closed off for Sunday's FBD clash.
“Following last Tuesday's storm one of the big lights in the stand was damaged and with regard to health and safety we will close a section of the stand at the John Hanley end for Sunday's game between Mayo and Galway in the FBD League.
“Repair works on the damaged light will have to be carried out and it will also give us the opportunity to check all the other big lighting in the stadium out. The health and safety of all our patrons is the utmost priority for us and it for this reason we have decided to close a small section of the stand until repair works are carried out.
“We are advising supporters there will be restricted access in the stand and we ask everyone to please co-operate with the stewards on the day,” said Mr. Connolly.
