Mayo Daffodil Day launch

THE Mayo launch of Daffodil Day 2018 takes place in Westport House at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, March 14).

Members of the Mayo Daffodil Day committees will join forces to launch this year's event.

Daffodil Day, supported by Boots Ireland, takes place on March 23 and funds the Irish Cancer Society’s vital services for cancer patients and their families in Mayo and nationwide.

The local Daffodil Day committee are appealing to the public to volunteer to sell daffodils on March 23 and to donate to support people affected by cancer.

Speakers at the launch include Averil Power, chief executive, Irish Cancer Society, Pat O’Malley, a local volunteer driver with the society, who brings cancer patients to their chemotherapy appointments,  Bernie Byrne, Night Nurse in Mayo, who cares for terminally ill cancer patients, local community organiser Karen Hughes and community fundraiser Lorraine Toner.

Feel free to bring your key volunteers and supporters to the launch - just let them know how many will be attending. RSVP to Lorraine Toner at ltoner@irishcancer.ie or call/text (087) 7936499.
