Leona is representing Castlebar in Mayo Rose contest

MAYO ROSE OF TRALEE CONTESTANT NO. 1: LEONA RUANE, CASTLEBAR

 

ELEVEN ladies will take to the stage in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on Saturday ight with the hope of representing Mayo at the annual Rose of Tralee Festival later this summer.

We will be featuring all the roses, starting with Leona Ruane who is sponsored by The Connaught Telegraph.

Castlebar girl Leona Ruane is 25 years-of age. She is a qualified primary school teacher and currently working in Dublin, but Mayo will always be her home.

“In the past I have also qualified and worked as a nail technician. And just recently I completed a certificate in fashion design,” said Leona.

Her hobbies include yoga, running, hiking, creative writing and, of course, she is a massive Mayo Gaelic football supporter, having grown up with McHale Park on my her nanny’s doorstep

Said Leona “ I love travelling and I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer overseas in Africa. An annual highlight of my year each Easter is my trip to Lourdes with The Irish Pilgrimage Trust.

"I hope to shed some awareness and light on some very dear causes close to my heart through taking part in the Mayo Rose selection.

“I am extremely honoured to represent The Connaught Telegraph and I thank them sincerely for their support and for getting behind me."
