New school short-listed for architectural award

IN advance of the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards on June 8, the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) has launched the Public Choice vote for Ireland’s favourite building, place or public space.

This year’s Public Choice shortlist is made up of 32 projects across Ireland and a Westport project is in the running – the new Scoil Phadraig building.

The company behind the project, SJK Architects, has offices in both Westport and Galway.

The nominated project is called ‘New School in Town’.

Online voting is now open and you can vote for Scoil Phadraig on the RIAI website at www.riai.ie. Voting closes at midnight on Friday, June 1.

Now in their 29th year, the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards celebrate the quality of current work by RIAI members at home and abroad and create awareness of the contribution that architects make to society for everyone’s benefit.
