Moorehall backdrop for new short film

THE enchanting surroundings of Moorehall became the stunning backdrop for a new Irish short movie which was filmed over the course of two days in April, writes Claire McNamara.

Rapacious has been made by Yew Tree Productions, a new and contemporary film production company founded by two native Mayo men, Jason O'Sullivan and Eamonn Keane.

Written and directed by Mr. Keane, Rapacious tells the story of a man on the run, hiding deep in the woods, fearing capture and retribution.

It was worked on by revered industry professionals alongside a stellar cast predominantly sourced in Mayo and Galway.

Adam Goodwin of Vikings and The Tudors fame stars alongside the multi-talented Emma Eliza Regan, also of Vikings. Sound is by James Latimer, who previously worked on the Oscar-winning short Stutterer.

It is envisaged that Rapacious will be a prime contender in a number of national and international film festivals for 2018/19.

Yew Tree Productions is based in the heart of Galway City but boasts a local and international movie focus for short and feature-length projects.

The company was developed with the mission of bringing high-quality film production based on the pillars of creativity and integrity and to looking beyond the expected industry norms.

When asked about the film, writer and director Eamonn Keane said: “It was a pleasure working with such a good and experienced crew. I knew before filming that Moorehall would offer the perfect atmospheric quality we wanted to capture for the film.”
