Cian Hanley. . .a vital goal for Ballaghaderreen

Ballaghaderreen book Mayo semi-final spot

Ballaghaderreen have booked a place in the last four of the Mayo senior football championship.

They advanced to a penultimate round encounter against Breaffy with victory over fancied Garrymore by 3-11 to 0-18.

The match certainly proved the theory that goals win games, the victors holding the upperhand thanks thanks to two by full-forward Darragh Kelly in the first half and a third Cian Hanley after the break.

Garrymore, to their credit, never lost purpose and direction but their failure to engineer a goal of their own ultimately proved their undoing despite the best efforts of the outstanding Gary Golden and Caolan Crowe.

Apart from Kelly and Hanley, others to shine for Ballaghaderreen were Shairoze Akram, Ryan Lynch, Barry Regan and Andy Moran.
