Thirty-three Mayo teens graduate from Foróige Leadership for Life programme

THIRTY-THREE Mayo teens have graduated from Foróige’s Leadership for Life programme, which is accredited by the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).

They were awarded with a Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action in NUIG last Saturday (October 13).

Between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, 340 young people graduated on Saturday having completed the Foróige programme.

Seán Campbell, CEO of Foróige, said: “The Leadership for Life programme is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for 15- to 18-year-olds to acquire accredited leadership skills. They gain aptitudes in critical thinking, problem solving, empathy, resilience, self-reflection and teamwork in a safe and supportive environment.

“The development of young people as leaders is core to the work of Foróige. I would like to congratulate all of the graduates who dedicated themselves to understanding what it takes to become effective leaders and how to use these skills for the betterment society.”
