Elderly man arrested following fatal Mayo shooting
GARDAI in Mayo are at the scene of a fatal shooting this morning.
They are investigating an incident in whiich a man in his sixties was fatally wounded outside a property in Aghamore, near Ballyhaunis.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight last night.
A man in his 80s has been arrested by gardai and is being questioned at Castlebar Garda Station.
He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
Gardaì have issued an appeal for witnesses.
