David Cameron: opened the scoring in Connacht Gold Cup final.

Westport are the champions

True to form, Westport United won the Connacht Gold Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ballyheane at Milebush Park this afternoon.

The game was as good as over with just 20 minutes played as Westport led by two goals to nil at that stage, David Cameron with a lovely dinked opener after Joe Lawless' excellent through ball and Pat Fitzgerald with a side-footed finish from David Hoban's superb cross.

There were no more goals until the hour mark when Phil Keegan bundled the ball in after Danny Scahill's long ball was helped on by Hoban, and with Scahil, David Cameron and Darren Browne controlling proceedings, Westport kept Ballyheane very much at bay.

United 'keeper Michael Gibbons had a quiet afternoon but did make one excellent save late on when Damien Walsh fired a free on target, a rare effort on goal for Ballyheane on the day.
