David Cawley: one of a number of Mayo players who will have SSE Airtricity League action this weekend.

Mayo players on duty in the SSE Airtricity League

THE SSE Airtricity League 2016 season commences this evening and the football development officer for Mayo, Paul Byrne, has taken the opportunity to wish luck to all of the county's players taking part.

He said: “Good luck to the following players who made their first footsteps in football in Mayo and are now preparing for the new SSE Airtricity football season: David Cawley and Conor O'Malley at St. Patrick's Athletic, Ryan Connolly, Ruari Keating and Jesse Devers at Galway United (along with Leo Tierney, who is part of the management team), Michael Schlingermann and Gary Boylan at Sligo Rovers, John Mountney at Dundalk, and Liam Flatley at Finn Harps.”

Paul also wished good luck to Damian McGrath, who will be on duty each week at League of Ireland grounds as an assistant referee.

It was further announced earlier this week that Damian has been appointed an assistant referee for the 2016 European Championships in France. Damian's is the only appointment for an Irish referee for this tournament. He will join William Collum from Scotland and the rest of his team.
