Rampant Kilmaine claim Connaught junior crown

Kilmaine were crowned Connaught junior football champions following their runaway victory over Sligo champions St. Michael's at Elverys MacHale Park, Castlebar, this evening.

It was evident from an early stage that Kilmaine were a class above the Sligo side. After racing into a three-point lead, Kilmaine's cause was helped further after St. Michael's were reduced to 14 players when Dwayne Kelly received a second yellow and was sent off.

Kilmaine continued to drive forward and after tacking on some great points, they added a goal from Michael Hession which gave them a 1-10 to 0-0 lead at the interval.

On the resumption Kilmaine continued to dominate and added further goals from Jarlath Mullin (two), Brian Maloney and Cathal Murphy.

In the end a rampant Kilmaine ran out fully deserving winners on a final scoreline of 5-18 to 0-3.
