Top tradfolk night at the linenhall

Here’s a line-up to savour: Maura O’Connell and Karan Casey, Martin Tourish and Ed Boyd. These four musical luminaries join forces for what promises to be an unforgettable night of trad/folk at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Tuesday, January 20, at 8 p.m.

A true legend, from her early days as De Danann vocalist, Maura O’Connell’s multi-decade singing career has brought her international acclaim and two Grammy nominations, and continues to bring something new and exciting to everything she sings.

Karan Casey has long been one of the most innovative and influential voices in traditional and folk music. From lead singer with the Irish supergroup Solas, Karan has also released six solo albums, and has worked with the likes of James Taylor, Liam Clancy, Peggy Seeger, The Dubliners and Imelda May.

Martin Tourish is an accordionist from Co. Donegal whose reputation has grown rapidly since he was named Young Musician of the Year by TG4 in 2008. A regular member of the band Altan, he has performed with Carlos Núñez and as guest soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

Ed Boyd is considered to be one of the finest acoustic guitarists on the European folk circuit. A founding member of the BBC Folk Award-winning group Flook, he joined highly acclaimed band Lúnasa in 2012.

All in all, a Music Network concert not to be missed!
