Promoting live music in castlebar with the jam shugar sessions

Castlebar band Jam Shugar will host the first Jam Shugar Sessions in Garbo's this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday (February 14 - St. Valentine's Day), the event aims to help 'bring back the music' by celebrating local artists and providing them with a platform to showcase their original material.

The night promises to offer a wide variety of musical styles and entertainment. From melodic acoustic sets to uplifting five-piece bands, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Entry is only €6 and doors open at 8.30 p.m., with a happy hour until 9.30 (all pints €3).

Stylish venue Garbo's, located at Factory Road, Castlebar, boasts a comfortable and spacious environment for punters and performers alike.

Castlebar-based Jam Shugar is a collection of experienced local musicians hoping to help revive the once-celebrated music scene in Castlebar. They formed almost a year ago and since then have played many gigs around the country, from Cavan to Kerry and many places in between.

Demonstrating their versatility, Jam Shugar provide the option of a two-piece acoustic set or a full five-piece band playing all the favourites going back as far as the '60s. For more information on the band, find their page on Facebook or email jamsugar69@gmail.com.

Acts taking part on February 14 include Jam Shugar, Blood Sledge Electric Death Chickens, HippiesLoveNeptune, Mick Sheridan, Just Marty, and more.
