Sochfreadh is new mayo rose

Síochfreadh Ní Lachnáin was crowned the 2015 Mayo Rose at the selection at the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport.

During her on stage interview, she told the audience that her mother had once said: “I didn’t have five daughters for none of ye to become a rose!”

Winner Síochfreadh is from Newport and was sponsored by The Greenway Hostel. Describing herself as being both in shock and delighted at being crowned Mayo Rose 2015, she said the whole thing was 'surreal'.

International Rose of Tralee 2014 Maria Walsh was among the attendance at the gala event.
