Us ambassador is home

U.S. Ambassador Kevin O’Malley is in Mayo this week as part of a homecoming visit.

After meeting the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, at the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, this afternoon, he travelled on to Áras an Chondae, Castlebar, where he was accorded a full civic reception.

The Ambassador will be in Westport House tomorrow (Tuesday) to open a new exhibition about the Browne family and their efforts to assist the hungry during the Great Famine.

Ambassador O’Malley’s paternal grandparents emigrated from the Westport area in the early 1900s.
