Councillors want to see more playgrounds developed

MAYO County Council has been asked by Councillor Patsy O’Brien to make provision to have playground facilities installed in the villages of Shrule, Kilmaine and Hollymount.

The councillor put down a notice of motion on the matter at a meeting of Claremorris Municipal District.

Another councillor, Damien Ryan, put down an amendment that a playground also be provided in Cong. There was a shortfall of playgrounds in the west side of the municipal district, he maintained.

The average cost of providing a playground is in the region of €130,000 to €150,000, the meeting heard.
