Mayo has said yes

IT'S official. Mayo has voted Yes for marriage equality.

Final results in the same-sex marriage referendum have just been announced at the count centre in Castlebar.

The county voted 52% in favour and 48% against.

From an electorate of 97,300, the total poll was 55,900. Spoiled votes amounted to 550, with the total valid poll standing at 53,350.

A total of 28,800 people voted Yes (52%) and 26,560 said No (48%).

A victory parade is currently taking place around Castlebar.
