Partial lifting of the boil water notice in westport

DEPUTY Michael Ring, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, has this evening welcomed the announcement from the outbreak control team in charge of the boil water notice in Westport that it has partially lifting of notice.

He stated: “Irish Water has confirmed that an alternative supply of drinking water to certain parts of Westport is being provided by Mayo County Council. This alternative supply will allow many businesses and some householders in specific areas of the town to use water without the need to boil it, and has been approved by the HSE.

Minister Ring continued “The boil water notice will be lifted from the area now served from Lough Mask Water Scheme which is all north of the old railway line. This is welcome news for people who will no longer be on the Boil Water Notice”.

“Hopefully this progress in relation to the Boil Water Notice will continue. I am aware that the Boil Water Notice has been an inconvenience for a lot of people in the Westport town area, hopefully further progress will be made and that the Boil Water Notice will soon be lifted from all areas of Westport.

“Staff in the Westport Civic Office will be able to assist the public with queries on which scheme they are served with.'
