Wandering weanling and worried owner reunited
A NORTH Mayo farmer panicked today when he discovered 20 Aberdeen Angus weanling cattle missing from his fields at Ardagh, near Crossmolina.
Thinking the valuable animals had been stolen, as happened in Co. Westmeath in recent weeks when a large herd was targeted by rustlers, the farmer rang Midwest Radio to raise the alarm.
Thankfully, the Ardagh herd hadn't been stolen. They had wandered into a nearby property.
A quick phone call from a neighbour, following the radio broadcast, put the worried farmer's fears at rest.
Later in the day, the footloose weanlings and their owner were reunited.
