Wind warning for mayo

MET Éireann has issued a status yellow wind alert for nine counties, including Mayo, with effect from tomorrow morning.

Very strong southerly winds will develop during bank holiday Monday, with mean winds of 45-55 km/h and gusts between 90 and 100 km/h. Along the west coast mean winds will reach 55-65 km/h in the afternoon, with gusts between 100 and 110 km/h and strong gales at sea.

The alert concerns counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

To add to our weather woes, early in the afternoon tomorrow heavy and prolonged showers will also develop in the west.
