Heavy rains are on the way

MOTORISTS are being urged to drive with care as Met Éireann warns of widespread and very heavy rain in many parts of the country overnight.

A level orange alert has been issued with heavy downpours forecast across Connaught.

There are warnings of spot flooding and rainfall totals of between 35mm and 50mm and possibly up to 70mm on hilly grounds and mountains.
