Hollymount/Carramore ... 0-11

The Neale .......................0-7

HOLLYMOUNT/Carramore were crowned Mayo intermediate Gaelic football champions following their four-point victory over south Mayo rivals The Neale in Elverys MacHaler Park, Castlebar, today (Sunday).

While was only four points seperated the two teams at the final whistle, this flattered The Neale as they were outplayed and outclassed by a Hollymount/Carramore side.

Indeed, had the newly crowned champions made more of their scoring chances, especially in the opening half where they kicked 10 wides, their winning margin would have been a lot bigger.

With Hollymount/Carramore were missing plenty of chances in the opening 30 minutes, The Neale were making the most of their opportunities and as a result they went in at the break with all to play for as the scoreboard read 0-5 each.

However, on the resumption Hollymount/Carramore came out with all  guns blazing and took control in most areas of the field.

They went on to build up a six-point lead and although The Neale never threw in the towel they were never able to peg back the deficit in the closing stages.

Scorers for Hollymount/Carramore: Ian Costello (0-4), D. Coen (0-3), K. Feerick (0-2), K. McNamara (0-1), K. Costello (0-1).

Scorers For The Neale: S. Cosgrove (0-3), K. McHugh (0-2), R. Holian (0-1), A. O'Sullivan (0-1).

Referee: J. Henry (Castlebar).
