Safety distinction for Mayo's Baxter Healthcare plants
BAXTER Healthcare SA’s Castlebar and Swinford manufacturing plants in Mayo, have been awarded the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) Distinction in Occupational Safety Award for 2015.
This major category award was presented to a team of representatives from the two Baxter plants at the annual Health and Safety Awards presentation ceremony in Galway .
In the words of NISO, for a company to receive 'Distinction' status they have demonstrated a proactive health and safety management system of superior performance, combined with evidence of strong management leadership of continuous improvement and health and safety management system reviews.
Ciaran Geraghty, general manager of manufacturing at Baxter, said: 'Health and safety is an absolute key priority for us and all our employees have worked very hard to create and maintain a safe environment for themselves as well as our customers.
'I pay special tribute to all employees for their enthusiasm and commitment and for playing their part in winning this accolade and for improving and maintaining their safety standards year on year.
'We are part of a multinational organisation that has very high safety standards. This award is exceptional recognition for the tremendous progress on our safety program this year built on the foundation of ownership, accountability and engagement.
