EDS runaway success continues

A BAND of Mayo students have practically sold out their first headline gig at the Grand Social in Dublin, which is normally the home of established bands.

Fast-rising EDS (Everyday Solution) are playing the Grand Social on Saturday next, November 14, and have been a runaway success this year.

They are also reviving in Dublin the Saturday afternoon gigs that were once a feature of venues like McGonagles, the Underground and the Rock Garden, introducing young people to the excitement of live music again.

The ticket sales follow the huge success EDS enjoyed in Vicar Street. playing to 1,500 in August. The band have also just completed big touring dates with HomeTown, managed by Louis Walsh. EDS played with HomeTown all across Ireland during the October mid-term including Cork Opera House, UCH Limerick, Bundoran, Kildare, Kells, Tullamore, Drogheda and Clonmel.

EDS played radio stations across the country as part of the tour to promote their own shows, including a slot with Neil Delamere on his Sunday Best show on TodayFm.

EDS all hail from Swinford and lead singer Aaron Sweeney has just finished his Leaving Cert. The five formed the band while at secondary school and have gigged across the west of Ireland, headlining Enniscrone Festival this year, as well as playing support to The Academic. EDS also played to more than 2,000 in Castlebar at a festival.

They will feature on RTÉ’s Swipe TV this month also.

The remaining tickets for the 2 p.m. show on Saturday, which will be open to all ages, are on sale via Ticketmaster for €12. The Grand Social is one of Dublin’s most popular and fashionable music venues, located in the city centre right at the distinctive Ha’penny Bridge on Liffey Street.

EDS are currently in studio recording songs for an EP and will release their first single in the coming weeks.
