Status Orange alert is issued for Sunday

MET. Eireann has upgrading its weather alerts for parts of the country tomorrow to status Orange. 

A status yellow wind warning for Ireland was already in place.

It will be very windy on Sunday morning with heavy rain and gales.

The rain will clear eastwards to scattered heavy showers by afternoon and winds will veer west to northwest and moderate gradually.

The outlook is for very unsettled and changeable weather with heavy rain and strong winds at times.

Met. Eireann is warning of winds of up to 55 kilometres an hour and gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour.

Rainfall of up to 50 milimetres is likely across many areas.
