Many Mayo roads remain closed due to severe flooding

MANY roads throughout Mayo remain closed due to flooding and they are unlikely to be reopened over the weekend as more heavy rain is on the way tomorrow.

The full list of road closures issues by Mayo County Council today is as follows.

Ballina Municipal District: LS5361 Green Road, Foxford – closed; LP1106 Rakestreet to Keenagh – closed; Barrett Street, Ballina – closed; and Bachelor's Walk, Ballina – closed.

Castlebar Municipal District: N60 Balla to Claremorris at Heathlawn – down to one lane controlled with traffic lights, approach with caution; R330 Partry to Srah west of Partry village – water levels rising, situation being monitored, passable at present; R315 Lahardaun to Pontoon Road – closed at Browns Bay, diversion via the R315 to Lahardane and Crossmolina, N59 to Ballina and R310 to Pontoon (and vice versa); L16011 from Finney to Glemteigue (Tourmakeady) – closed as bridge is damaged by floods.

Claremorris Municipal District: R334 Ballinrobe to Headford – closed at both The Neale and Cross, use N84; R345 Cong to The Neale – passable with care (note R334 closed both direction from The Neale); R346 Cong to Cross – passable with care, Cross to Headford open; L1612 and L1613 Ballinrobe to Clonbur – closed; L1611 Ballinrobe to Roundfort – closed. One-way system is in place in Cong village.

West Mayo Municipal District: L1813 Cashel Road, link road from N5 at Cloggernagh East to R330 at Mace – closed, and likely to remain closed for a number of days.
