Mayo act Sarah Keane reached final of S7Live competition

MAYO act Sarah Keane was one of the three finalists from thousands of entries to the S7Live competition, held in association with Carphone Warehouse.

Earlier this month, to celebrate the arrival of the new Samsung Galaxy S7, Carphone Warehouse launched S7Live to unearth Ireland’s hottest upcoming musical talent.

Musicians were invited to submit a video recording of a live performance to be in with a chance of making it to a shortlist of seven talented acts.

As expected, the response was overwhelming as bands and solo acts alike entered in their hundreds, covering every imaginable genre.

After much deliberation the shortlist was announced on March 11 and the final three acts were chosen by public vote.

Sarah, from Ballina, was joined in the final by David Keenan from Dundalk and Rofi James from Galway. The three performed on stage at the Samsung Store, connected by Carphone Warehouse, in Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin, in a live final on Friday last (March 18), where The Voice of Ireland's Bressie hosted and helped judge the event.

Unfortunately Sarah didn't claim the overall title - Dundalk's David Keenan was chosen as the winner - but getting to the final three was no mean achievement. “The quality of entries we received was astonishing - Ireland is bursting with talent and producing truly outstanding music,” said Peter Gallogly, marketing director of Carphone Warehouse Ireland.

Sarah (21) is a Trinity College student who has been singing and writing songs for as long as she can remember. She studied songwriting in BIMM and is currently based in the Netherlands on Erasmus.
