Nicholas qualifies for Rio Olympics

CASTLEBAR man Nicholas Quinn has made the Olympic qualification time for Rio De Janeiro.

Quinn swam a very impressive 2:11.24 in the 200m breaststroke, almost half a second under the qualification time of 2:11.66, in Eindhoven at the weekend.

The Mayo swimmer, who trains and studies at the University of Edinburgh, progressed to the final in 2:13.27, just off his personal best of 2:13.04, but a commanding performance in the final saw him smash that time to claim gold and a ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio this summer.
