File for DPP on paint protest at An Taoiseach office

A FILE is being prepared for the DPP following a graffiti/paint daubing incident at An Taoiseach Enda Kenny's office in Castlebar earlier today.

Gardaí made an arrest after a middle-aged woman with a brush and a can of red paint began protesting at Mr. Kenny's constituency office about the slaughter of innocent children in the Syrian town of Aleppo.

Shortly after 10 a.m. the woman scrawled three messages - 'How Many More Children?' 'Aleppo No Dawn' and 'Represent Me' on the exterior wall of the building.

The woman then began to smear red paint on another section of wall. before she was interrupted by gardai. After the arrest, a can of overturned paint and a brush lay on the ground for some time until a forensic examination of the scene was completed.

The Taoiseach was not present in the office building during the protest.

The arrested woman, who is from the Co. Mayo area, was released from custody in Castlebar Garda Station around 3 pm.

Gardaí say a file will now be prepared for the DPP on the incident.
