Death of popular McHale Road resident

THE death has taken place of Frank Blake, 12 McHale Road, Castlebar.

In his 95th year, he was one of the town's best known and most respected personalities. A true gentleman.

A former member of the staff of Castlebar Bacon Factory and Mayo County Council, news of his passing is widely mourned in the community. He also worked for many years in England as a nurse. Frank was a lifelong supporter of the Labour Party.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the Blake family on their loss.

He is survived by his wife Ellen, sons Martin (England), Jimmy (Castlebar), Michael (Mountdaisy, Castlebar), Connie (Castlebar) and Tom (Claremorris), daughters Anne Ryan (Castlebar) and Violet Daly (Ballinteer, Dublin), step sons, step daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son, John, who died in infancy.

His remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, on Monday evening from 6 o’clock with removal at 8 o’clock to the Church of the Holy Rosary, arriving at 8.30 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock with the funeral proceeding to the Old Cemetery.
