Death of much-loved Castlebar personality

THE death has taken place at Friars Lodge Nursing Home, Ballinrobe, of Pat Byrne, Castle Street, Castlebar.

One of the town's best known and most respected personalities, he had spent much of his working life as a member of the clerical staff of the former Castlebar Bacon Factory where he was held in very high regard by his fellow workers.

The deceased had also been actively involved in running a sweet and confectionary shop at Castle Street with his charming wife, Anne, for many years.

Pat had an immense love of Castlebar and its people and enjoyed his regular walks.

He was predeceased by Anne some years ago as well as his brothers Tom, Mike and Jimmy and sister Mary.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his son Padraig, daughter-in-law Pauline, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

His remains will be reposing at the Coady Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5.30 with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church Of The Holy Rosary.

Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul takes place on Monday morning at 11 a.m. with the funeral proceeding to the Old Cemetery.
