Leading Mayo pharmacy changes hands

JOHN O’Donnell’s Pharmacy, Ellison Street, Castlebar, has been sold in recent days, it has been confirmed.

The pharmacy, in operation for the last 36 years, has been acquired by Dearbhla and Donncha Kearney, brother-and-sister pharmacists from Westport Road, Castlebar.

The business will continue to operate with the same staff in place and the Kearneys hope to provide the same great service for many years to come.

John and Mary O’Donnell, who are wished health and happiness in their retirement, have thanked the people of Castlebar for their constant support and friendship over many years and wish Dearbhla, Donncha and their staff the very best in the future.

Brendan Raftery, a pharmacist in O'Donnell’s, said: “I’m delighted a Castlebar family purchased the business and it is staying local.

“I know the business will continue to operate exactly as it did under John and Mary’s stewardship and it will be business as usual without any interruption.”
