Zoe donated 14 inches of her hair

Zoe makes the cut for charity

ZOE Flanagan is sporting a fabulous new look these days after making her mind up to have a big haircut for charity.

Zoe is only five years old, and in junior infants in Scoil Raifteiri, Castlebar, and proved she is a very caring child by deciding to donate her hair 'to help another child'.

Needless to say, her Daddy, John Flanagan, Mom, Mary, and older brother Kian are rightly proud of Zoe.

Zoe donated her hair to the Rapunzel Foundation, an Irish charity which makes wigs for young children coping with alopecia, which may be caused by stress and anxiety, or illness, which is heartbreaking at such a young age.

Her hair was done by Ciara in Sharon Ralph's Hair Salon in Castlebar. Zoe has been a social media hit, with Sharon revealing she has gotten over 7,500 Likes on her Facebook page alone, not including the people who have shared it, and that figure is rising.

This is a huge achievement for a five-year-old and as Sharon called her on her Facebook page, “Zoe's a real life princess.”

As the big cut took place just after Christmas the family didn’t want to burden people by asking for money so they did it quietly, without a fuss. However, they would like to raise awareness not only for the Rapunzel Foundation but for children to see the importance of helping each other even at such a young age.

Said mum Mary: “Zoe's hair will create a beautiful wig. I'm sure that will be a delight to another child and help her gain her confidence back so she can also feel confident and happy.”

In all, Zoe donated 14 inches of her hair.
