Retired judge is laid to rest in Foxford

THE death has occurred of Clare Leonard, Ranelagh, Dublin, and formerly of Foxford.

The deceased was a former judge of the District Court. She retired in 2013 after 21 years on the bench.

She served for many years on the children's court and was held in high regard for her sincere, sensitive, intelligent and patient manner.

The deceased had also contributed to the legal world through her work on legal studies and especially through her writings on xenophobia and racism.

She is survived by her sisters Marjorie (Mulligan) and Ann (McGovern), brother Frank, nieces Jeananne, Michélè, Annie and Caroline, nephews Colm, Vincent, Barry, James, Mark, Frank and Eoin, her relatives and wide circle of friends and colleagues.

Clare was predeceased by her brother John.

Burial took place in Craggagh Cemetery, Foxford, earlier today following Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul in the Church of the Holy Name, Ranelagh, Dublin.
