Man for trial on sexual exploitation charge

A MAN is to go on trial before Judge Rory MacCabe and a jury at the Circuit Criminal Court in Castlebar tomorrow (Wednesday) charged with the alleged sexual exploitation of a male child in a west of Ireland town last year.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is pleading not guilty.

A jury for the trial, which will possibly last two days, was sworn in today (Tuesday).

The charge against the accused was taken under Section 3 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act.

The offence alleged relates to January 2016.

The trial is scheduled to start tomorrow at 10.30 a.m.
