Victim of Ballina assault is appealing for witnesses

THE victim of an assault in Ballina last weekend has made an appeal through social media for witnesses to the attack.

In a post on her Facebook page, which included a photograph revealing very bad facial scars, the young woman stated: “While walking home last Saturday, two lads come up behind me and left me in this mess.â€

Witnesses to the assault, which occurred at the top of Bunree between 2 and 2.30 a.m. on Saturday night/Sunday morning, are asked to contact the local garda station or ring the garda confidential line at 1800 250025
