Mayo manager Frank Browne

No injury worries in Mayo Ladies GAA camp

AS Mayo ladies senior Gaelic footballers prepare for their All-Ireland semi-final against reigning champions Cork next Saturday week, team manager Frank Browne revealed to The Connaught Telegraph that they had no injury worries following their pulsating victory over Donegal in the  quarterfinal last Saturday.

Browne said while he were thrilled with the way his charges performed against Donegal the focus was now fully on the Cork game.

“I was naturally delighted with the win over Donegal and especially the way the girls performed. It was just a brilliant day for us.

'People doubt character sometimes, of the Mayo footballers, be it men or women. Whatever else we'll do, we'll die on our shield and we'll battle to the very end.

'We put in a massive performance. Fair play to Donegal, they've been an up and coming team but I don't even think they expected what they got.

“But now our focus is fully on the Cork game. This will be another almighty game for us. They are the firm favourites for the title and have been the side in the country for the last 12 years.

“However, will prepare and treat them the same as any other team. When you take the field in any game like this at the business end of the championship it is never going to be easy.

'But we aren't afraid of any team and if we can go out against Cork and play like the last day we have to be in with a great chance.

“These girls have worked very hard to get to this stage. It is nothing more than they deserve. They trained throughout the long winter nights in Ballyheane and mid-week in Athlone in order to get to where they are at now.

“All I have asked of them is to give of their best. This they have surely done and will do next again Saturday week. As a manager you couldn't ask for more.

“For now it is all about the next day. It's against Cork and I am confident these girls will be ready for this this massive test,†said Brown. Â
