Students wished well as they embark on new school year

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has sent his best wishes to students as they return to school for the 2017-2018 school year.

He stated: “It’s an especially busy time for parents and can be a challenging time financially. I urge parents who are eligible to register for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance before the September 30 deadline. The allowance has been increased significantly since last year. “

Minister Ring also highlighted a campaign by the RSA to distribute free high visibility vests to 80,000 children as they start their first year in school this year.

“I was delighted to see that the RSA is distributing free high-visibility vests to 80,000 children throughout the country. Our young pedestrians are among our most vulnerable road users. This issue is especially relevant in a rural county like Mayo,” he added.
