Andy Moran wins GAA Footballer of the Year Award for 2017

MAYO forward and 2017 All-Star Andy Moran has been named as Footballer of the Year.

The announcement was made at the awards ceremony in Dublin tonight.

The accolade is in recognition of an outstanding season for him and he succeeds his team-mate, Lee Keegan for the crown.

Speaking on RTE One television this evening, he said he was thrilled to have secured the honour and praised all the Mayo squad for their hardwork and commitment throughout the season.

Moran is the second Mayo winner of the GAA Footballer of the Award,

Ballintubber brothers Cillian and Diarmuid O'Connor hold the distinction of winning the GAA Young Footballer of the Year Award twice while Ballyhaunis ace Keith Higgins won the Young Footballer of the Year Award in 2006.
