Council announces appointment of two new directors of services

MAYO County Council has announced two new appointments to its management team.

Following a recent recruitment campaign, carried out by the Public Appointment Service, two vacancies for the post of director of services have been filled and the successful candidates, Catherine McConnell and John Condon, will take up their posts at Mayo County Council on Monday next, November 13.

A planner by profession, Catherine McConnell hails from Ballinrobe and has worked in a number of local authorities including Mayo, Sligo, Meath and, most recently, Galway County Council where she has been acting director of services since 2014.

Originally from Tipperary, John Condon has worked in Dublin City Council, Kildare County Council, Athy Town Council and Castlebar Town Council in addition to his more recent years in Mayo County Council as senior executive officer and has been acting director of services since May 2017.

The appointment of two new directors creates some changes to the existing directorates.

Assignment of responsibilities to the five directors of Mayo County Council are now as follows.

Mr. John Condon: Water Services, Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Services,

with Castlebar Municipal District.

Mr Peter Duggan: Financial Management and Motor Tax.

Mr. Tom Gilligan: Housing, Roads and Services Development with Ballina Municipal District

Ms. Joanne Grehan: Communications, Information Systems and Corporate Development with Claremorris Municipal District.

Ms. Catherine McConnell: Planning, Economic and Community Development with West Mayo Municipal District.
