Castlebar store wins prestigious national retail title

CASEY’S Londis/Topaz, Castlebar, has been named as the 2017 national winner of the Best Food to Go Department.

The announcement was made at the ShelfLife National C-Store Awards

Congratulating the Mayo store, Conor Hayes, Londis Sales director, said: “We extend our congratulations to the team at Casey’s Londis/Topaz on winning this prestigious national title.

“It is their relentless drive and ambition that sets them apart from their peers in a marketplace which is already internationally recognised as setting the standards in convenience retailing. The store and staff are very deserving of this industry accolade and they are great champions for the Londis brand.”

According to ShelfLife Publisher John McDonald, the standards are up across the board this year.

“There are a number of very important highlights from this year’s Awards scheme. Standards have improved across the board, and there was a discernible percentage increase in the average score of all stores that entered.

“When we visit a store we don't care what brand is over the door. Everybody gets treated the same. We have the same approach to each store and everybody starts with an equal number of points. We only deduct points where we see a failing at the point in time that our auditors are actually in a shop.

“This year the competition to sit at the top table was fierce. Standards are up across the board and the ultimate winner is the shopper who gets an increasingly strong and sophisticated retail experience at his local convenience store.”
