Westport House hosting Winter Wonderland Christmas

THE Winter Wonderland Christmas experience at Westport House is proving a huge success.

Guests have enjoyed a fun, festive family day out in one of Ireland’s most historic homes. Festive families went back in time to the 18th century to enjoy a magical Christmas Experience in the truly idyllic setting of Westport House.

A live crib, situated in front of the main house, is one of Westport House’s newest additions to the list of amenities available for all to enjoy during the experience.

The live crib is a fundraising initiative, in aid of St. Mary’s Church in Westport, which is in dire need of restorative works.

People from all over the town gathered on the day of the launch to celebrate the official opening, with Fr. Charlie of St. Mary’s Church, acting as official ‘ribbon cutter’.

Members from the Westport Children’s Choir entertained the crowd with beautiful renditions of Christmas carols, as guests enjoyed a festive glass of mulled wine while admiring the donkey, goat, sheep and alpaca within the crib.

Winter Wonderland at Westport House is a magical family experience brimming with Christmas cheer that will leave the kids starry-eyed and the whole family believing in fairy-tales.

Running throughout December on select dates (every weekend and select mid-week dates), it is the perfect choice for a magical Christmas experience the whole family will enjoy.

Adults and children were seen leaving the first weekend of the Winter Wonderland with smiles from ear to ear, having enjoyed a truly magical afternoon.

A ticket to Winter Wonderland consists of a guided experience throughout the house with one of Santa’s elves, where they will bring you through an array of amenities including, story time with Mrs. Claus, face painting, gingerbread decorating, the Christmas Wish Tree, meet and greet with Santa Claus, the gift of a Christmas Tree sapling from Santa, yuletide log workshop, complimentary juice for the kiddies and festive drink for mum and dad and a ride on the Westport House Train.

Westport House will also be hosting a Sensory Santa experience on December 7 for any children with autistic or sensory disorders.
