Funding boost for Mayo recreational amenities

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has announced that he has approved €196,000 for two Mayo recreational projects.

A sum of €100,000 is allocated to improve the pathway, improve access to the river and signage on the Bowers Towpath in Ballinrobe while a further €96,000 has been allocated for the construction of a greenway from Achill Sound to Saula.

The investments will make the two walking amenities more accessible for members of the public to enjoy.

Meanwhile, Minister Ring has also approved LEADER funding of €89,469 to support the development of phase two of the Achill Experience tourism initiative.
