Mayo woman rings the Opening Bell on New York Stock Exchange

Margaret Duffy, a native of Charlestown and chair of the board of directors of the New Ireland Fund, Inc., has had the honour of ringing The Opening Bell of the New York Stock Exchange.

The New Ireland Fund, Inc. is a closed-end investment company managed by KBI Global Investors (North America) Ltd. “KBIGI” is a wholly owned subsidiary of KBI Global Investors Ltd., which is based in Dublin and is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Duffy, who is an advisor to the County Mayo Foundation, was joined by KBI Global Investors CEO Sean Hawkshaw.

The occasion was to mark the fund’s recent successful capital raise and Ireland’s sustained economic recovery.

It is the only actively managed closed-end registered investment company listed on the NYSE that invests primarily in Irish equities.
