May 13 clash of old rivals to attract 28,000 attendance - Connacht GAA chief

CONNAUGHT GAA Council secretary John Prenty has told The Connaught Telegraph that tickets forthe big championship clash on Sunday week in Elverys McHale Park, Castlebar, are selling at a steady pace and expects come match it will be a full house.

Said Mr. Prenty: “As one would expect there is a very good demand for tickets for this mouthwatering clash between Mayo and Galway in the quarterfinal of the Connaught senior championship.

"There is a steady demand for tickets and I am confident that the 28,000 tickets, which is the capacity for the ground, will be taken up.”

The Connaught provincial secretary went on to say that no decision has been made yet on where the venue for the Connaught final will be should Roscommon and Galway be the finalists.

The is some doubt over the capacity of Dr. Hyde Park, Roscommon. This will have to be sorted out before any decision is reached.

Should it be a Roscommon versus Galway Connaught final, it is expected that Elverys McHale Park, Castlebar, will be the venue if Dr. Hyde is deemed not to be able to hold the expected massive attendance.
