Minister Ring expresses his sadness at passing of Colam O’Neill

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has expresses his sadness at the passing of Colam O’Neill, the former managing director of Allergan Pharmaceuticals in Westport.

Minister Ring stated: “I offer my sincere condolences to the family of Colam O’Neill. Colam was a wonderful family man and a great servant to the community of Westport.

“I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Colam’s wife, Mary, and to their children, Finbar, Conor, Aoife and Orla.

“Colam’s passing is all the more tragic following the death last October of his much loved son, Neill O’Neill. I know that the community in Westport will support the O’Neill family in this very difficult time.

“Colam worked with Allergan since its arrival in Westport in 1977 and as managing director he oversaw the doubling of staff at the plant. As a community we benefitted hugely from Colam’s vision and talent.

“Colam’s passing is a tremendous loss to his family and to the whole community of Westport.”

His remains will be reposing in Navin's Funeral Home on Friday from 4 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to St. Mary's Church, Westport.

Funeral Mass takes place on Saturday at 12.30 p.m. with burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
