Business woman Katey Butler takes top Mayo award

KATEY Butler has been richly rewarded for her decision to set up her own business in Claremorris after 16 years managing the cosmetic counter for Lloyds Pharmacy.

Not only has she found the experience a fulfilling one due to the success of Katey's Health & Beauty at Mount Street in the south Mayo town, but she has now been crowned with the 'Excellence in Style' accolade at the Mayo Style Awards, run by The Connaught Telegraph in conjunction Specsavers Castlebar as the main sponsor.

Although she was genuinely surprised when her name was announced at the climax of the event at Breaffy House Hotel, it was not the first time she has been recognised for her hard work, ambition and enthusiasm.

Katey has a string of awards under her belt from her pharmacy days, including Cosmetic Consultant of the Year.

A very popular overall winner, the success of her business is all about bringing out her customers' inner and outer beauty with treatments such as Deckeor facials, make-up for all occasions and ages, waxing, massage, tanning, gelish nails, pedicures and manicures.

After being presented with her crystal award by Rachel Murphy and Niamh O'Connell of Specsavers Castlebar, she was very thankful to everybody who supported her.

Katey was also the winner of the Best New Business category at the event which is now in its fourth year and going from strength to strength with 34 finalists on this occasion.

The business sector in the towns of Castlebar, Claremorris and Westport took two awards each with the others going to Ballina, Foxford, Kiltimagh and Swinford.

Bernard Hughes, sales manager, The Connaught Telegraph, said the standard of entry was exceedingly high with the level of professionalism, business sense, style and presentation still outshining other counties where similar events are staged.

He said the input of the sponsors, his staff and the hosts, Breaffy House Hotel, was central to the success of the awards.
