Two Mayo hurling clubs 'disheartened' over funding snub

TWO Mayo clubs have issued statements expressing disappointment that they will not be receiving an allocation of funding from the generous donation of €100,000 made to the Mayo County Board by businessman J.P. McManus.

Ballyvary Hurling Club has called on the county board to reverse the decision to exclude the club from its allocation list 'and honour the spirit of the donation'.

The club's stand is supported by Caiseal Gaels Hurling Club.

The Carracastle club stated: “We believe the money was given for the development of all clubs in the county, so being one of the two clubs who were left out when funding was allocated is disheartening as we strive to promote GAA activity in Mayo.”
