Ballinrobe mourns passing of popular personality

THE death of Timothy (Tim) Murphy, Cornaroya, and late of Glebe Street, Ballinrobe, has evoked an immense sense of loss in the community.

In his mid-50s, the deceased was a popular member of the town's retail sector for many years.

In more recent years, he operated a taxi service and was widely known and respected across south Mayo.

Paying tribute to him today, local Councillor Damian Ryan said Tim was held in very high regard by everybody who knew him and his passing created a huge void.

“I tender my deepest sympathy to the bereaved family,” he added

Tim is survived by his wife Hanora, brothers Paddy and Martin, sister Mary Varley (Limerick), sisters-in-law Mary, Liz, Breege (Lucan), brothers-in-law Joseph (Roscommon) and P. J., aunt Maureen, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Interment took place earlier today at the New Cemerery, Ballinrobe, after Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Ballinrobe.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
